Juliusz Słowacki’s “Kordian” is being staged at the National Theatre in Warsaw to celebrate its 250th anniversary. Kordian is one of the most notable works of Polish Romanticism and drama, and is considered one of Słowacki's best works.
The Polish National Theatre was opened on 19 November 1765, when a troupe of royal actors gave its performance of Józef Bielawski’s “Natręty”, a comedy which was inspired by Mollier’s works. The National Theatre in Warsaw is the Polish oldest theatre and is the fourth oldest one in Europe.
